About Us
The Taunton and District Society of Model and Experimental Engineers was formed in 1946 by a group of 20 local model engineers. Since then the membership number has grown with members' interests today encompassing nearly all aspects of the hobby. On 1st May 1995 the club became Taunton Model Engineers a Company Limited by Guarantee and in June 2018 the Club became a registered Charity, number 1178760.
The Club has two sites within the Taunton area, a raised railway at Vivary Park and a new permanent home for TME currently under development at West Buckland. Please take the link to see how we are progressing with this project. Regular meetings are held on the 1st and 3rd. Tuesday of each month. Take the events link for an up-to-date list of all our Club activities.
Our club is guided by an elected committee of members. The Members' Handbook, which all members receive upon joining, explains the club rules regarding election to the committee and the procedures by which it conducts its day-to-day business.
